Internet Equity

After reading Chapter 11, I have a much better understanding of how to ensure equitable Internet access for each student in class and how technology tools and the internet can extend learning in powerful ways to all children in general. This is my first year in a K-12 environment (CPS), and from what I have observed, many teachers do not know about the different variety of assistive technology devices and tools available not only in the market but under Accessibility in the Windows system. The use of screen magnifier, on-screen keyboard and text-to-speech reader are not widely used or known among teachers. Students with learning disabilities without assistive technology devices are being denied full access to information and ideas to support engaged learning on the Internet.
